Alisha Gibb, B.Sc. (Hons), CDA, Au.D.
Doctor of Audiology Registered CASLPO, Audiologist
Alisha Gibb received her Honours Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Guelph in Biological Sciences in 2007. Alisha furthered her studies by completing a postgraduate program at Georgian College as a Communicative Disorders Assistant with Honours in 2008. She worked as an Audiology Assistant both in private practice at the Lindsay Ear Clinic, Bobcaygeon Hearing Clinic and public practice at McMaster Children’s Hospital Hamilton Health Sciences in the Audiology department. During this time, Alisha completed infant hearing screenings, assisted in managing clinics, completed team testing and dealt with hearing aid repairs and counselling patients with hearing loss.
After years of mentorship and guidance from colleagues in Audiology, Alisha decided to further her career and obtain her Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Syracuse and graduated in 2012. During her time in Syracuse, Alisha had various opportunities working with both children and adults with hearing loss. Her placement experiences included working at the Gebbie Hearing clinic, Oswego county Boces as an educational Audiologist, Hear 2 Learn, SUNY Upstate University Hospital, McMaster Children’s Hospital at Hamilton Health Sciences and Syracuse Veterans Medical Center. Alisha has gained knowledge and experience in areas of diagnostic testing for both children and adults which included site visits to ensure children with hearing loss needs were being met within the school system, Auditory Brainstem Response, site of legion testing, cochlear implantation evaluation/rehabilitation, central auditory processing, vestibular testing and tinnitus retraining therapy. Lastly, Alisha completed her final year fellowship at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.
Prior to opening Hearing Healthcare of East Gwillimbury in 2013, Alisha worked at Helix Hearing Care where she completed diagnostic testing, hearing aid evaluations, fittings and worked with multiple Ear Nose and Throat Specialists for patients of all ages. Alisha recently has had the privilege to come full circle with her career and now is able to teach from a program she graduated from in 2008. Alisha is a supervising clinical Audiologist for the Communicative Disorders Assistant Program at the Harmonize for Speech, Hearing and Language Clinic at Georgian College since 2019.
Alisha is a driven, passionate clinician who strives to ensure she continues to remain educated in the field of Audiology. She remains current with the latest amplification and assistive listening devices in order to fit her patients’needs. Alisha has also recently made it a priority to give back to future generations through her teaching initiatives. Her success has recently been made recognized within the community when she received the 2020 Young Professional of the Year award from the East Gwillimbury Chamber of Commerce. This award is given to an individual who has demonstrated professional growth and success in their respective field of work, demonstrated leadership within the community and has contributed to the community through active participation in community initiatives. It has been her pleasure working with people with communication difficulties and she takes pride in having the ability to help her patients.
Alisha Gibb is affiliated with the Ontario Association of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (OSLA), College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and the American Academy of Audiology (AAA).
